Tunde Onakoya, the Nigerian chess virtuoso has etched his name into the annals of history! He has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon, surpassing the previous mark of 56 hours and 9 minutes set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018. Onakoya’s epic feat saw him push through the 57-hour mark and beyond, ultimately reaching an astounding 58 hours of non-stop chess mastery. This event, took place at the iconic Times Square, started at 10 a.m. on April 17 ran until 8 p.m. on April 19, with Onakoya playing non-stop for 58 hours. ARISE News Channel has commenced operations in South Africa and nine other African countries. They include Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi and Mozambique. Others are Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Chief of Staff to Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of the media house, Ms Fauziya Ali-Mohammed, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.
