’77: The Festac Conspiracy
Following the massive success of his 2016 political and historical thriller, ’76’, Izu Ojukwu is pulling his gang together for yet another thriller based on real events. His gang is our favourite duo: Ramsey Nouah and Rita Dominic. This movie also serves as a sequel to the 2016 movie, ’76, and if we’re setting expectations based on that, you can be sure our expectations are very high for this movie. Other notable cast we’re excited to see include Ibinabo Fibresima, Seun Kuti, Daniel K. Daniel, and many more!
Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre
Famed film producer and director Kunle Afolayan had everyone talking in 2022 with the release of his critically acclaimed ‘Anikulapo,’ which left us wanting more. Now, he’s set to release a four-part series of the same title, with key players Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, and Sola Sobowale reprising their roles.
The series is expected to premiere on Netflix soon.
Oloture: The Series
Among the movies being serialised is Ebony Life’s ‘Oloture,’ which was first released as a feature-length in 2019. It is set to premiere on Netflix sometime this year. Sharon Ooja, Beverly Osu, and Omoni Oboli will retain their roles, while actors Bucci Franklin and Stan Nze will join the ensemble.
Finding Messiah
Oscar Heckman-Ackah will be making his directorial debut with this movie. The music executive also wears multiple other hats, including producer, music composer, writer, and production designer, on this production. Every still and BTS we’ve seen from the movie so far gives us a dystopian, abstract African vibe and all the right kind of chills. Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, one of the cast members, described the production as Shakespearean. If that doesn’t raise your expectations, I don’t know what will. She is joined by other notable actors, including Pete Edochie, Ngozi Ezeonu, Alex Usifo, Ejike Asiegbu, Bucci Franklin, and Daddy Showkey.
To Kill a Monkey
One of Nollywood’s finest directors, Kemi Adetiba, is set to release another crime thriller this year. To Kill a Monkey will premiere on Netflix and stars the likes of William Benson, Bucci Franklin, Chidi Mokeme, Damilola Adegbite, Ireti Doyle, and many more.
