2022 is out and a new year is here. There is no better time to make New Year’s resolutions to adopt for a new you in 2023. Yes, resolutions can be intimidating and hard to keep but they are a good way of hitting the reset button to attain new goals in one’s life. The trick to sticking to resolutions is to keep them simple and attainable. Some of us have already penned down our resolutions for 2023, while others are still struggling with what they should be. But whether you have them penned down or not, here are ten New Year resolutions we think everyone should consider putting on their list.
Schedule more time with friends
There is nothing like too much time with friends. Come 2023, make more time for your girls and guys. Invite them on road trips, to lunch, or to your place for a game night – the list is endless. However, make sure to invite those with positive energy to help you maintain your positivity; this is very important for your mental health in 2023.
Give more compliments
Though approaching strangers may be out of character for some of us, making new friends never hurts anyone as long as you do it in a safe environment. Go the extra mile and compliment someone. Be it the girl or guy in front of you with cute shoes or your co-worker who has just given a top-notch presentation, make it a thing in 2023 to give compliments. A simple gesture can go a long way toward boosting the recipient’s mood and yours. Share the love with those closest to you, too.
Grow a plant
These past few years, we have heard how important it is to go green, and one of the easiest ways to do so is to plant something. Gardening can be intimidating, so start small by growing an indoor plant, vegetable or herb. This will help improve the air purification in your home.
Make your bed
We have all probably heard this all our lives, but it takes only a few minutes to make a bed. If you don’t do it when you wake up in the morning, you’ll probably have to do it when you get back at night, which I doubt is what you want to do after a long day at work.
Read a book
If you are a reader and seldom get the time to read, make it a must in 2023 to read a book or two in a month. If you don’t have the discipline to do it yourself, join a book club. It’s the easiest way to keep yourself accountable throughout the year.
Drink more water
Drinking water generally benefits one’s health, but you’d be surprised how many people dislike drinking water. If you fall into this category, then this resolution is for you. Buy a fun water bottle or cup that will help you track how much water you drink. Include some healthy extras like fresh lemon, cucumber, or fruits to give it a taste that will encourage you to drink more.
Declutter
A new year is an ideal opportunity to reorganise your space. Give things you haven’t used or worn to a charity in the last eight months, or sell them off at a yard sale. This way, you make room for new things while getting into the continuous habit of giving things away and decluttering your space throughout the year.
Try something new every month
Who said your resolution had to be limited to just one thing? Make a list of the things you have always wanted to do and plan to cross something off the list every month. If you are a foodie, try a new restaurant or recipe, but whatever the plan, start small, work your way up slowly, and remember to invite family and friends to make the moment more enjoyable.
Be more active
Let 2023 be the year you start to move. Many of us move from Point A to Point B in cars and rarely take the time to walk. Make it a habit to park a short distance from your destination in 2023 to meet your step and calorie goals. Make an effort to walk or dance, whichever is easier for you, and make time to get active.
Learn a new hobby
Everyone needs to zone out once in a while to keep work and home stress at bay. Keep your hands busy with the many hobbies out there to help ease your mind. Try knitting, sewing or gaming as some form of therapy to help keep you relaxed.
