As the year comes to a close, Nollywood is gearing up to treat audiences to a cinematic thrill with a lineup of highly anticipated movies set to hit screens in the coming weeks. Not to mention, we have, for the first time, a trio of highly talented female producers set to release their individual movies within days of each other!
From captivating dramas to thrilling comedies, here are four Nigerian movies that should be on every film enthusiast’s radar this festive season:
Breath of Life: Produced by Eku Edewor and directed by BB Sasore, this historical drama closed the recently held African International Film Festival (AFFRIF) and is set for release on Prime Video on December 15th! It stars the likes of Wale Ojo, Bimbo Manuel, Chimezie Imoh, Genoveva Umeh, Sam Dede, Eku Edewor, and many more!
Malaika: One of the dynamic trios set to release their movies this December is Toyin Abraham. From Prophetess to Ijakumo to Alakada, the talented actor and producer has been known to give us something to talk about with every production. Malaika is set for release in cinemas on December 22. It stars Toyin Abraham, Uzor Arukwe, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Odunlade Adekola, and many others. The biggest surprise star, however, is Emeka Ike! Everyone is still wondering how Toyin Abraham managed to pull him out of retirement. We’re holding our breath for this one!
Ada Omo Daddy: Second in the dynamic trio is Mercy Aigbe. With a star-studded cast including old-timers like Charles Okafor, Chiwetalu Agu, Fred Amata, Sola Sobowale, and youngins like Tomi Ojo, Taiwo Peters, and many more, we have really high expectations for this film! The trailer looks the right kind of chaotic and has left us eagerly awaiting its premiere in cinemas on the 15th of December.
A Tribe Called Judah: What’s December without a Funke Akindele film?? The last of our dynamic trio, Funke Akindele, is out with a new flick, A Tribe of Judah, starring Funke Akindele, Jide Kene Achifusi, Uzor Arukwe, Faithia Balogun, Timini Egbuson, Nse Ikpe-Etim, and many more. It is also set for release to cinemas on the 15th of December, and everyone is waiting to see who will smash the box office on their opening day!
