The launch event, which took place in Abuja, Nigeria at the Transcorp Hilton, was graced by His excellency, the Vice president of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Chairman Transcorp Group Tony O. Elumelu, Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and a few other notable personalities.
According, to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the platform is coming at a time when the nation’s hospitality industry was recovering from a downturn occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the platform would provide a significant avenue for small businesses in the industry to grow.
Also speaking during the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Dupe Olusola, said the launch of Aura remains a bright spot for the company following a year when the hospitality sector was severely affected by the pandemic.
She said the digital platform was an essential part of the firm’s strategy to grow domestic tourism and travel and differentiate its offerings to capture returning travel demand as access to the COVID-19 vaccine improves.
