Luxury French Fashion house Chanel made history as the first European luxury fashion house to showcase a collection in West Africa. It unveiled its latest Métiers d’Art collection in the heart of the former Palais de Justice. “By choosing Dakar, the house wishes to make the savoir-faire of its métiers d’art resonate with the artistic and cultural energy of the city.” The Senegal capital is home to a thriving fashion industry and home to recognised brands, including Alicia Keys-loved Adama Paris, helmed by Dakar Fashion Week founder Adama Ndiaye.

The Director of the World Health Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and filmmaker Mosunmola Abudu, also known as Mo Abudu, have been named among Forbes Most Powerful Women for 2022. They are being selected for the second successive year.
While Okonjo-Iweala was placed 91, Abudu ranked 99. According to Forbes: “The list was determined by four main metrics: media, impact, money and spheres of influence. For political leaders, we weighed gross domestic products and populations; for corporate leaders, revenues and employee counts; and media mentions and reach of all. The result is a collection of women who are fighting the status quo”
Tony Elumelu Bags ECOWAS Prize Of Excellence.
The Chairman of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, Tony Elumelu CFR, has been recognised for his contributions to the promotion of regional integration, peace and socio-economic development across Africa through his work at Heirs Holdings Group and the impact of his philanthropy, the Tony Elumelu Foundation.” He received the ECOWAS Prize of Excellence at the Heads of State and Government Summit in Abuja.

CBN Introduces New Cash Withdrawal Limits.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced revised cash withdrawal limits in banks and other financial institutions following its recent currency redesign project. Following this, individuals and corporate organisations’ maximum cash withdrawal over the counter (OTC) per week will be N100,000 and N500,000, respectively.

French fashion house Dior held its first show at Egypt’s ancient Giza pyramids, presenting its 2023 fall men’s collection in the shadow of the millennia-old tombs. The event celebrated Egypt’s rich history and culture and put it on the fashion scene. It was well-received by the public, with people celebrating Egypt hosting such a spectacular, global event which received international praise. Naomi Campbell, Lewis Hamilton, Robert Pattinson and K-pop star Cha Eun Woo were among the 800 guests at the show, which took place after sunset with the pyramids lit up in the background. Giza marks the fourth location for Dior’s tour after Tokyo, Miami and London.
D’banj questioned Over Fraud Allegations.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has invited Oladapo Oyebanji, aka D’banj for questioning.
The singer is accused of fraudulently diverting monies earmarked by the Federal Government for the N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development. Investigators allege that D’banj colluded with some compromised government officials to introduce ghost beneficiaries into the scheme’s payroll. The stipend paid to those beneficiaries is then paid into accounts allegedly linked to the pop star.
